what is a Magzine ?

what is a magzine?
This was a question asked by one of our parent - bloggers, Lia, in an e - mail to me. The truth is that there is a general understanding that parents of young children don't have the time to read a lot of books; their brain just can't handle that kind of information. Therefore, in the interest of brain development, they are looking for other ways to interact with their children; engaging in active play, simple learning activities, and playing games. Magazines provide an excellent way to do all of these things while also providing some educational content for the children. In short, an electronic magazine offers a unique learning opportunity for the child as well as a unique opportunity for the parent. Well, I already said I'm not going to let them watch TV so I guess we'll have to be content to learn at the computer. So now I can say that we have an electronic magazine that we get out once a month. (Thanks Grandma... the kid's favorite thing about March is learning about the changing of the seasons) I used to look forward to reading an actual book for a fun activity with the kids but have come to realize that they don't need me to give them the skills to interact with themselves. It doesn't need me to remember the songs, read the funny books, or explain the numbers. All the kids need me for is to keep an eye on them. If I can't do that, I need to step away for a few minutes to give myself some time for my brain to recover. It's a great learning opportunity for the parent as well as the child. And, at least for now, that is all I need. If this is still a fun activity after the baby is born, then I'll start using it more with her as well. Yes, she's on her way. She'll be here in 7 - 8 weeks. And my house, along with my husband, will be tired of people for a while. I've been through this before. He's been through this before. What I've realized is that there are always two ways to look at a situation. We always have two ways to look at a situation. Why? I think it's because sometimes we don't see the whole situation. Sometimes we only see a little bit of it and when we step back and look at the whole thing, we can see that a lot of stuff isn't exactly right but there is some sense to what's going on. What I've realized about my pregnancy is that I can either look at it as a blessing or as a burden. This has always been my stance when it comes to pregnancy.
